Summary:
This position is responsible for providing prompt and compassionate check- in/check-out service to the patient, and in turn, helping the provider's team run efficiently throughout the day.
SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES:
Provides efficient and excellent customer service, in person and via telephone to patients, family members, and visitors.
Provides attention to detail when verifying patient demographics, insurance information and completion of necessary documentation for the patient's visit.
Optimizes patients' satisfaction, provider time, and treatment room utilization by scheduling appointments in person or by telephone.
Keeps patient appointments on schedule by notifying provider promptly of patient's arrival.
Assists and comforts patients by anticipating patients' needs and answering patients' questions.
Ensures availability of treatment information by filing and retrieving patient records.
Maintains patient accounts by obtaining, recording, and updating personal and financial information.
Protects patients' rights by following HIPAA guidelines and maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information.
Maintains efficient operation flow by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes.
Ensures authorization is secured with the insurance company and / or with the patient on a self-pay basis.
Be able to communicate efficiently and professionally with patients, outside agencies and internal staff Review provider documentation meets payer requirements Research payer policies and procedures which should be documented for efficiency each calendar year Advise the patient of the results of the pre-certification efforts and insurance benefit verification with collection of any patient out of pocket costs according to company policy Advise staff involved in the patients care, results of the pre-certification process Document the results of the process for future reference and claims processing Pre-cert all applicable procedures with the patients insurance for all Physicians Pre-collect all patient out of pocket costs or send communication to provider based on company policy Ensure procedure is scheduled Ensure provider documentation meets payer requirements for set procedures Keep up to date on payer policies for the procedures pre-certed Professionalism with all patients and staff Helps patients in distress by responding to emergencies and contacting proper emergency services, if appropriate.
May be assigned projects as business needs arise to follow through to completion Work Authorization Must be able to provide required documentation stating that the employee is legal to work in the United States.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
